Bank thieves caught but better security measures needed

Last month there was a robbery in Admedabad at the Nagrik Sahakari Bank. The doorman Hardik Darji, worked there for many years and was a trusted employee. He was the mastermind behind the entire plan. He left the bank strongroom (vault) door and a window open one night.

His five accomplices then broke into the locker room and pried open 14 lockers using crowbars and screwdrivers. They stole cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs. 20 Lakh. They then tried selling the jewellery to jeweller Bharat Soni, owner of Gopi Jewellers.

A bank setup like this would require a specific surveillance system setup. Cradle's Networked Video Surveillance System (NVSS) could have assisted in catching the people immediately as they entered the bank, through motion detection sensors. If set up properly, the opening of a vault door would trigger alarms and alert bank authorities and police immediately.

As it is, the police tracked them down by leaning on Darji's friends through their mobile phones. As a result, Paresh Patel, Chandrahas Barot and Mahesh Mochi have been arrested along with the jeweller Bharat Soni.

Great job to the police department of Mehsana! The bank will obviously have to consider better security measures for itself. A networked surveillance systems such as Cradle's can go a long way in protecting everyone's best interests!

CCTV video: Woman dies while waiting at hospital

I just heard this on the news today. Apparently a woman who was waiting in the emergency room of a psychiatric ward in a hospital, fell off her chair onto the ground and was writhing in pain for one hour before she died.

That's bad enough, but what is even worse is that other patients around her didn't react, security guards and other hospital personnel noticed her at least three times on surveillance footage yet did nothing. Apparently one guard was caught on CCTV video, rolling his chair around to observe her, watching her for a few seconds and then returning to his place doing nothing.

This is absolutely atrocious! Yes we all know emergency room line ups are horrendously long. Yes, we know this is in a psychiatric ward where there have probably been lay offs etc. and they are probably short staffed. But this is a matter of life and death where all excuses should fail! The woman's wait time was over 12 hours long, and she fell with no reaction from anyone around her, even after they noticed her.

Cradle's Networked Video Surveillance System (NVSS) can assist in situations such as these. It can alert the authorities of events that take place. Also, if hospital security are aware that they themselves are being monitored by authorities higher up, they know they have to pay attention and react or they will lose their jobs.

Needless to say that 6 people have been fired in the wake of this incident. This hospital, the Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, has already been the subject of numerous complaints about the filthy conditions of the bathroom and waiting rooms. At times, people are forced to wait on mats in the waiting room and wait times can be at least 12 hours.

A court order has been given to the hospital where they are obliged to reduce wait times to 10 hours and check upon all patients every 15 minutes.

Its just too bad that all of these measures had to be taken after someone lost their life. Cradle's Networked Video Surveillance System can alert people when to act, but cannot make up for human inaction.

Go beyond Security and Monitor your Business as well.

The surveillance systems can really help you to avoid the crimesAnd thefts. This is what happened in Banglore a couple of days ago.

Also jewelray shops who have really expensive items should have more than cctv and the owners can have really great quality video that can capture the data real time.

They tried to outsmart everyone and succeeded a few times, but these robbers pushed their luck one time too many.

The Malur branch of Chemmanur Jewelers has nabbed women who were trying to steal gold after diverting the employees' attention.

The management grew suspicious when they saw the women in CCTV visuals some time ago. The images were circulated and employees warned.

When the women arrived at the Malur showroom, the staff, armed with the visuals, handed them over to the police.

"The moment the women entered the showroom, the staff recognized them and downed the shutters. However, two ran away. The arrested are Revathi, Rathna, Aruna and Vasantha, from Kuppam district in Andhra Pradesh," police said.

The Bangalore Police, however, said the women had not struck in the city. "Malur police are interrogating them. Their role in thefts in the city is not confirmed," police said.

We recommend the h.264 quality for the jewelery shops since your investment in the shop is so high that one should have the highest quality of surveillance product like www.cradle.com

How video surveillance makes a difference!

There was an article recently in the NY Times which discussed the burning of the Governor's mansion in Texas. It was a 152 year old mansion that was undergoing extensive renovations. Police suspect arson.

Through the use of video surveillance tapes, they were able to determine the time of the fire, quoted as 2am. Police have also spotted a person of interest standing in the surveillance video.

This just occured on Monday evening June 9, so the police are still looking into the details of the case. Obviously any identifying details of the person will most likely be kept confidential, but there was something that helped tip off the police.

Whether you own a mansion, or want to safeguard your business assets on your factory floor or retail location, a surveillance system is now the standard for securing your business and conducting your business.

In this particular case, it was used to identify what happened and when. Hopefully, the police will be able to identify the "person of interest" using a high video resolution and capture the person who was responsible.

Something to think about!

Go Beyond Security + and monitor your business anytime and from anywhere

Go Beyond Security and you can monitor your business, monitor cash register, monitor
custome support, Monitor employee performance - from anywhere and anytime by using just your lap top or any PC anywhere with interent access or a data card.

I was sitting quietly enjoying my coffee in my office and suddenly a customer started yelling at the cash register clerk saying he gave 500 Rs. bill and not a 100 Rs. bill and started demanding more money back.

The poor clerk keep repeating “ NO sir, you gave me only 100 Rs.”

I went out and tried to calm down the customer but in vain he was just not agreeing that he gave Rs 100 and not Rs. 500.

I suddenly remembered our new Cradle iNVSS system and the camera pointing to the
Cash Register. I went to my system clicked on the particular camera window and clicked
Replay and to my surprise I could clearly see the 100 Rs bill that the customer handed to my Cash Register Clark.

I went to the customer and invited him to my office and showed him the video and the matter was over.

I find the Cradle iNVSS Product line really great for retail shops in India and across the world. If you own more than one shop I highly recommend it since not only you can access the video locally but also I can access it using my Tata Indicom Laptop card or from my home and if needed talk with the customer.
