Man beaten with a hammer on a subway

A man was assaulted with a hammer on a Subway station in Philedalphia, US. A man was sleeping in a subway car and another passenger, later identified as Thomas Scantling, picked up a hammer and started beating the man brutally.

Passengers made no move to help the injured man as he was dragged to the subway platform. As he stumbled back onto the train, passengers finally came to his aid by pulling the emergency cord to alert authorities. He was also escorted to the hospital by fellow passengers.

Police using surveillance video, identified the culprit as Thomas Scantling and have arrested him. He awaits a trial and psychiatric evaluation.

Video Surveillance tools like Cradle's Networked Video Surveillance System can greatly assist in tracking the situation and identifying culprits. In order to be most effective the appropriate day/night cameras need to be installed to get the clearest resolution possible.
