India-Pakistan trains to be monitored

An alarming trend has officials sitting up and taking notice. Within the past 3 years, over 4000 Pakistani nationals did not return to their country, overstaying their short term visas to India.

Officials are concerned about the possibility of these people planning terrorist attacks. To this end, they have initiated the process of setting up surveillance systems at the main train stations of Attari and Munnabao to keep visual records of people.

This kind of a move is already in place in major airports and this move by the transit officials is being seen as supportive of others' efforts.

What is a NVSS or CCTV system? What all parts one need to purchase when one has to install this system

NVSS connects to the internet and you can watch the property from anywhere, anytime.
CCTV is on LAN and can be watched only locally.

What is a NVSS or CCTV system? What all things are involved and what all parts you need to purchase when you want to purchase a CCTV or NVSS system.

When one thinks about total security, and monitoring about any facility then Advanced and Networked CCTV has to be part of the package other wise the full security can not be complete.

The traditional CCTV is also in use but these days networked CCTV or NVSS- that is Networked Video Surveillance Systems are also available for the mid-market and the pricing has come down for such systems so mid size businesses can afford such systems

Netwroked CCTV or Networked Video Surveillance System (NVSS) has following components cameras, recorder with storage, additional storage (if needed), monitors, peripherals.

NVSS or CCTV Recorder is the main brain of your security system. This is the one that you need to select properly. If you do not have the main NVSS the correct kind then the other peripherals are easy to choose.
Please make sure you select this correctly. To find out more about this here-

One should understand the latest technology in this area. What is the difference between CCTV and NVSS. You have to take into consideration your business need according to that you have to select the correct recorder for you.

CCTV cameras are the image capture elements essential in security sytem. Selection of right cameras is based on the purpose of the security system, installation requirements and installation location (indoor or outdoor) also plays a vital role in determining the right combination. There are many types of cameras used for CCTV systems - Fixed mini domes, night vision cameras, , compact cameras, IP cameras and speed dome cameras, PTZ Cameras ( Pan Tilt and Zoom Cameras)

In a security system, monitor is used to display images captured by the camera and processed by the NVSS recorder. There are many Types of monitors used for such system is TFT monitors and CRT monitors. Now a days the range of monitors rages from the TV monitors, computer monitors to flat screen monitors.

Storage is another important component in CCTV system. The storage now a days can come inside the recorder also with NVSS system using NAS one can extend the storage since the need for the storage has increased up to 90 days in some of the industries like banking industry. You must make sure that the system you purchase has the option and have NAS connection so that you can add the storage later as your need for storage increases.

Installation is another important aspect of any surveillance system. If you are a owner you should get involved in the installation process since each installation is different according to your business need and location. The cameras and location of cameras is important in this regard.

Such mid market and also higher level NVSS is available also by Cradle Technologies.

Most video surveillance not monitored

Again and again, people are questioning the worth of surveillance systems. Many have stated that they are not as effective because there is no one there to monitor them.

For many systems that are state of the art, no monitoring is required.

Cradle's NVSS product line for example, does not require people to constantly monitor the video. If the system is set up correctly, security personnel are notified through email or text messaging anytime motion is detected in a particular area after hours. Another example would be if a particular door is opened in a restricted area. These people can then view the video streaming in real time on their PDA or cell phone. Simultaneously, management of the company is notified as well, saving time and effort in a potential break-in or accident.

More often then not, people who are constantly monitoring the video end up missing something that occurs. Thieves are well aware of the risks posed by security personnel and plan their crimes around them.

What will work best in the future is a model of surveillance where you have a combination of real-time monitoring and an intelligent and convenient system, like Cradle's NVSS.

Video footage helps innocent victims

There has been a lot of speculation on just how worthwhile it is to invest in a video surveillance system for cities, companies etc. Privacy seems to be the main issue, however, laws are in place to govern privacy.

According to recent news, not only is it helping police fight crime, it is also helping people fight for truth and justice. The video footage has helped clear charges for one innocent victim who happened to lend some assistance to an assaulted woman. If it was not for the video surveillance footage, the individual would have gone to prison for life, accused of killing the assaulter.

Police reported that even though the video images were grainy, the time lapse between images was slow and the cameras were not at all mobile, even then it was a clear cut case where the accused was helping the assaulted woman.

Cradle's NVSS system could have eliminated all of these issues. Cradle has some of the highest quality video available for its video footage because it adapts to the available bandwidth on the internet, eliminating the haziness and fluctuation of video. Cradle's systems are also compatible with PTZ cameras which can pan, tilt and zoom on incidents as they occur. Some of our models can even be taken out in the field and used in moving vehicles.

Surveillance systems may get a lot of flak from individuals and groups about privacy. As long as laws are in place to govern their use, citizens will be protected. But what is this system worth to the innocent man who walked away from a life sentence in prison?

Traditional Video Surveillance VS Networked Video Surveillance

Traditional Video Surveillance VS Networked Video Surveillance

CCTV surveillance system

1.Security focused, meant for monitoring by guards

2.Physically walking around site for inspection

3.Monitoring CCTV systems, only one location

4. If an incident occurs, the guards are your first level decision makers with limited information and authority

6. Comes as windows based system and virus problems

7. No integrated solution available and no warranty for product

Disadvantages of such old generation of CCTV

1. Decision makers are informed after a time delay with little to no details

2. Failure to meet the needs of growing multi-location

3.Does not give access to businesses or executives on the move

4. Dumb recording of all data- whether motion is there or not.

5. Limited Storage Capacity.

6. Does not take advantage of what internet can offer

Now Basic Market Demands are following

Basic Market Demands

1. Takes advantage of internet and counts available bandwith and gives you access for your desired location 24x7x365 with Maximum reliability, Systems Should work 24x7x365, Storage Protection.

2. Use existing network infrastructure and reuse existing wiring and cameras for low start-up and operating cost

3. Sensors can be integrated and alerts can be sent.

4. Can do motion base recording and Motion based alerts.

5. Turns Analog Video data into Digital Data can be married to business applications
example- At a ATM- the video can be sent with each ATM transaction.

6. Integrated full solution box is available with warranty.

Such a networked Video Surveillance Systems are now available in India and US markets for mid market.

The challenges for Networked Video Surveillance System in India

Staff attacks force universities to increase security

In California, many universities are finding that their scientists and their families are at risk.

As recently as this past weekend (August 3) researchers are receiving razor blades in the mail, their kids' soccer games are being littered with leaflets, fire bombings are occuring in Santa Cruz to people's cars and homes.

These are just some of the increasing threats. Universities have reacted with tougher security measures around their scientists and their homes including paying for alarm systems and security guards. In LA recently, a judge approved a restraining order that limits animal activists interactions with the scientist to 50 feet away from their home during the day and 150 feet away from their home during the night.

In these situations, Cradle's NVSS system has a number of features that are well-suited. Motion detection can help trigger alarms whenever someone enters your property after hours, enabling you to contact the authorities. Notification can also simultaneously be sent out to the necessary university security guards. The remote login feature can allow security guards, or police to log in and view recorded video, that was triggered by the motion detection.

Our high quality of video can assist in identifying the culprits.

Video Surveillance helpful to police in making arrests

In the UK, it has been found that video surveillance technology has assisted in one-third of all arrests on the West Midlands Motorway. Video surveillance cameras, pared with license plate recognition software and a variety of databases have helped police capture criminals.

People are being arrested for crimes includin: stolen cars, fraudulent identification, murder suspects and smugglers.

Cradle's NVSS system has successfully been implemented for license plate recognition with the same purposes in mind. It has proved itself to be a leader in license plate recognition capabilities.
